you become a member of the Japanese Geotechnical Society (JGS), you

- receive the JGS journal "Tsuchi-to-Kiso" (monthly publication
in Japanese).

- know the events of the Society through meeting notices.
- contribute a paper and a report to "Tsuchi-to-Kiso" or "Soils
and Foundations".
- present your paper at symposia or conferences organized by
JGS.
- participate in JGS events at discount prices.
- purchase JGS publications at discount prices (25%off).
- subscribe to "Soils and Foundations"
- qualify for JGS awards.
- borrow multimedia, such as video tapes and films, about
geotechnical engineering.
- be a member of ISSMGE (with additional charge).
- be a member of committees organized by JGS.
- borrow a meeting room in the JGS office.

- Individual Regular Member
A person who has learning,
experience, or keen interest about geotechnical engineering
- Student Member
A person who is on the register of an
educational facility related to geotechnical engineering, such as
university, technical institution or college, high school or other
similar schools.
- International Member
Must be a regular member or special
member of JGS.
| STEPS TO BECOME A JGS

- Send a membership application form and membership fee to JGS
office.
This
form is for both individual regular members and student members of
JGS.
- Recognition at board meeting of JGS (It takes about one month)
- Notification of admission recognition from JGS office.

- Individual regular member --- 9,600 yen / year
- Student member --- 3,000 yen / year
- Additional charge for International member (only annual
member) --- 2,000 yen / year
Note: An
International member may be exempt from paying the regular
membership fee if he/she is an Asian citizen and residing in a
country or region where there is no ISSMGE member society.
However, such exemption revokes his/her privilege to receive the
JGS monthly magazine distributed to regular members. The decision
to exempt is determined at a board meeting based on the proposal
of the International Affairs Department.
